PowderPeople | Marco Milanese
12/16/2021 • Sebastian MüllerMarco Milanese is an alpine mountain guide, a modern adventurer and certainly a local legend in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia. The variety of his mountain activities is astonishing, based upon alpine climbing, reaching towards highlining and base jumping, but also incorporating skitouring, freeriding and speedflying. In this interview we try to find out about Marco and how he manages such a variety of mountain activities, how he deals with risk and what he was doing last winter. -

Avalanche management with children
11/20/2021 • Simon PfandlerAnyone who has been out and about on touring skis for a while can observe a welcome development: More and more children and young people are on the mountain with their parents and are enthusiastic about this sport. This may be because fewer and fewer families are willing to pay the high lift prices or because long lift queues encourage them to climb up together using their own muscle power. -

PowderAlert 1 2021/22 | Winter is setting in
11/14/2021 • Lars Oelmann
In contrast to last year, there are many differences but also many similarities when it comes to the start of the best season of the year. I'm not talking about carnival, but about the Ulling, a season that roughly stretches from September to May and is very variable in its puvlig-soft appearance. -

Gear of the Week | Blister plasters
11/07/2021 • Lea Hartl
Last spring, the inner shoes of my ski touring boots started to show signs of disintegration. I get blisters relatively easily and started taping my feet where the chafed inner boots rub so that I don't lose more skin with every tour. -

Test & Overview | Ski touring bindings for children
10/18/2021 • Baschi BenderIt was the end of August 2020, I had just returned from my summer vacation, the surfboard had been put away and the ski season was just around the corner. Like any normal skier, I asked myself typical questions for the time: When is the first snow coming? How many PowderAlerts await us? Is my setup right for the new season? -

10/16/2021 • PowderGuide
It's that time of year again: the mountains are covered in snow, you slowly need a sweater and jacket in the valley again, the season and group ski passes justify the latest price increases, the first turns on the glaciers, PowderGuide starts the season. We're not quite in regular operation yet, but are gliding step by step towards winter as usual. -

Videos of the Week #24 2020/21 | Off to summer!
05/07/2021 • Sebastian MüllerThere's still a bit left and in Chamonix anyway, but the search for powder is becoming increasingly difficult and it's clear that it's high time to start thinking about the approaching summer! So, our climbing projects for 2021: Big Island Assis or King Capella? Or maybe wrestling in Senegal? Or a highline on a ski tour? Or do you still have high alpine ambitions? Firn, powder or steep faces? Or roadgaps like Markus? In any case, summer will come and is somehow already here. -

WeatherBlog 23 2020/21 | End of season
04/21/2021 • Lea Hartl
Steffi from SnowFlurry recently asked the group at the final PG meeting how long everyone's ski season is. There were as many different answers as there were people in our "circle". The ski season is not tied to the meteorological or calendar winter and just because the WeatherBlog goes on summer break doesn't mean that the skis are summerized. -
