2022 began as 2021 ended, namely too warm. Who would have thought? The extremely warm phase, which brought us various new New Year's Eve temperature records, is now history with today's cold front. Until the weekend, the outlook is also quite good for the time of year. Next week everything is still uncertain, with a "mixed" trend and a west-east divide.

We don't have much to add to the oracle and his current rain alarm today. The weather in the Alpine region is not particularly pleasant, although the temperatures are certainly spectacular. From Thursday afternoon it will be less wet, but even warmer. The weather is expected to cool down at the beginning of next week.

The high pressure will stay with us until tomorrow, but then the general weather situation will change to much more zonal, mild westerly weather. This means more snow, at least for the higher elevations, albeit at relatively high temperatures.

As was already foreseeable last week, a powerful area of high pressure is currently building up over Central Europe. The high pressure will accompany us until further notice and unfortunately there is no snow in sight. The high pressure is blocking the current over the Atlantic and deflecting the frontal zone to the north, so that it is a long way off for us and does not affect our weather in a wintry way.

The WeatherBlog also wanted to try a clickbait headline. Did it work? We'll give you the answer right away: maybe. The current week is still relatively winter-friendly, but things will become more uncertain from the weekend onwards. A significant and rather longer-lasting moderation is likely, but the exact timing is still uncertain.

Total's management was demonstrably aware of the negative effects of burning fossil fuels on the climate over 50 years ago.

There will be little change in the weather until the weekend. High fog will dominate in many valleys and in the Alpine foothills, with sunshine above. Snow is not in sight for the time being. There are options for winter over the course of next week in the crystal ball range, but this cannot be relied on yet.
