The invitation to the pre-season camp fluttered into our inbox at the beginning of November in late summer temperatures and we immediately began to look forward to the upcoming winter. This anticipation increased even more when the detailed program arrived a week before the camp - coupled with the certainty that the conditions around Engelberg would be promising. I already attended the Big Mountain Camp last year. And if the pre-season camp is similarly well organised and adventurous, it could be the ideal refresher for the upcoming winter season.

The climate crisis concerns us all and is forcing us to scrutinise our actions. At the same time, winter sports are often criticised because of artificial snowmaking, energy consumption and the impact on the environment. So isn't it hypocritical to criticise ski resorts and at the same time enjoy skiing yourself? As passionate freeriders, we have to think about the decisions we make and how we can practise our hobby in the most reflective way possible so that we can continue to enjoy the incomparable days on the mountain with a clear conscience.

Autumn has brought us several weeks of beautiful high-pressure weather and has melted away most of the snow from September, but winter is slowly picking up speed again. Time to pay a visit to the Sport Conrad shop in Penzberg. The shop covers over 2000 square metres and focuses on freeride, alpine skiing, ski touring, snowboarding and splitboarding, especially in winter.
