Videos of the Week #21 2025/26 | Fika with Spring
04/10/2026 • Hannes HemperApril, April - VDW is back, for the penultimate time this season. It's not over until it's over, and that's exactly how this winter feels. I've brought you lots of spring edits, including a conspicuous number of Swedes - like Bjarne's new web series Fika, in which he accompanies ski and snowboard legends through their everyday lives. There's also NUBZ TV with Freeride World Tour icons Ben Richards and Toby Rafford as well as a documentary that is particularly close to my heart: Into Altai with Victor Daviet - on the road in the UAZ bus through Mongolia. -

Splittie of the Week | Shapes
01/19/2026 • Tobias Leistenschneiderrockercamberhybridcamberrockerhybridpowdercamberbananarockercruisecamber... The list is long. If you want to buy a new splitboard today, you will inevitably be confronted with one of these terms, namely when choosing the suitable or desired shape of the new sled. The list is so long that we cannot and do not want to provide an all-encompassing overview, but we have taken a quick look at the field to help you make sure that your new splitboard suits you and your tours to some extent. -

Splittie of the Week | Splittiewood or what are you watching?
04/08/2025 • Tobias LeistenschneiderSplittie of the Week is entering the season finale, but the current weather is driving the beads of rain onto the forehead of the author, who is mainly active in the Black Forest. The lexical re-creation of the oracle doesn't make the situation any better, but makes our reality all the more present. Thanks for that ;-) -

Snow of tomorrow | This is "POW Austria"
01/01/2024 • Martin SvejkovskyMartin is a volunteer with "Protect our Winters Austria". In his last guest article, he dealt with moral questions of being constantly confronted with being an active winter sports enthusiast and also an environmentally conscious person. Part of his answer to these questions lies in his commitment to POW, and now it is time for him to introduce "Protect our Winters Austria" and dispel a few preconceptions. -

Videos of the Week #21 2021/22 | Towards summer
04/22/2022 • Sebastian MüllerThe days are getting longer and longer, and the snow is getting creamier, slushier, stickier, heavier, slower... Summer is approaching! So let's dream again of social justice, long couloirs and deep storm days with old heroes! And we balance a few wintry highlines towards the end of the episode. -

Videos of the Week #8 2020/21 | Sustainable VdW
01/08/2021 • Sebastian MüllerInspired by the last column "Snow of Tomorrow", the new mantra is: "Sustainability sells". The VdW and the ski film industry also need to reorient themselves: "Bigger, deeper, steeper" plus "fat beats" times "kerosene" only leads to "head shaking to tired yawns" among the trained public. So here we present a selection of particularly "green, sustainable, environmentally friendly" ski films, or at least that's what we think. -

Videos of the Week #6 2020/21 | Steep and stylish
12/25/2020 • Sebastian MüllerYou can't reinvent the ski, unless your name is Sean McConkey. All striving for powder and weightlessness has its origins in steep face skiing. So in these hopefully reflective days for all of us, let's go back to those roots. After all, whatever we do in the mountains: style means everything. -

Trailer season 2020 | Incomplete overview
10/05/2020 • PowderGuideA new winter season is in the starting blocks and with it a new batch of ski films and their trailers. Here's an overview for everyone who wants to get into the winter mood! There are no clear trends for us this time. In general, there are slightly fewer trailers than in previous years, as the last season ended abruptly and many smaller film projects were probably not completed as planned. There is standard material from the major production companies. -

Videos of the Week #6 2019/20 | Hello, hello!
12/27/2019 • Sebastian MüllerThis episode of "Videos of the Week" is presented to you in english! English is an aglo-saxon language and spoken by hundreds of millions of people all around the world. It is fair to say that this beautiful language is our common ground and only a little community, the French, so far resisted to adapt. -

Movie review | TGR Winterland
10/25/2019 • Lars Oelmann
The trailer didn't really convince me, but the movie makes it clear right from the start that Winterland will once again be one of the better TGR flicks. Despite the Warren Milleresque title. -

Trailer season 2019 | Incomplete overview
10/03/2019 • PowderGuideAfter some of the more experimental works of recent years (think Ruin and Rose, for example), the trend for major productions in 2019 is once again moving in the direction of: "Story - what's that?" In the semi-professional home video sector, the focus is increasingly on sustainability and most films - in contrast to the previous year - no longer consist of 90% drone footage. Time- and roadless it's off to winterland!
