A short while ago we were water-skiing or riding bikes, and now, at the end of April, we suddenly find ourselves in winter. How could this have happened? It's cold throughout the Alps and it's snowing quite a lot, especially on the northern slopes. If you really missed it, 2 PowderAlarms and rows of 4-star ConditionsReports should be enough proof. Powder skis should be the first choice up to and including the weekend!

To be honest, we only managed the VdW every fortnight this season. But not true, we had some nice films! And now, at what feels like the end of the season, we still have something to offer. Hedvig Vessel's great film, a bit of Antti and a king line in the Pyrenees! The VdW wish you a good end to the high-speed season and hereby close the shop.

The Xtreme Verbier took place, everyone arrived safely at the bottom and it was really great fun. Then suddenly people turn up who we've been missing all winter: Markus Eder, Cody Townsend and Yann Rausis!

A lot is falling from the sky again across the Alps at the weekend, and at least in high Alpine locations you can expect the snow conditions to improve and some powder. Winter is far from over, as there will also be precipitation next week. For lovers of apocalyptic news, we also have the finest entertainment, the Atlantic is boiling over!

We've reached the autumn of the season, so to speak, and more and more of the films that we presented as trailers in the spring of the season are now appearing: The Hagens, Continuum, Sänkyøu. We reap what we have sown! We also offer you the best amateur vloggers - Marco Bassot and Gerhard Wiedemann - with a bit of FWT risk management and a good podcast with Maxime Chabloz at the end.

In keeping with the winter comeback, there's also a VdW comeback. We present Moonlines!, yesterday's snow with Guido Perrini, a climate debate, the FWT revue in Kicking Horse and finally Sam Anthamatten's backpack. We wish you good entertainment - winter is back!

On the southern side of the Alps, you could almost forget that winter isn't over yet: the first flowers are sprouting and a few cumulus clouds are already looming on the horizon. But wait, winter is making a comeback, and quite impressively too! We also turn our attention to the AMOC, which is once again in the spotlight thanks to a new study.

Winter will change, for the better or worse. Meteorology tries to predict these changes, but the VdW realise that things change and are embracing them, no matter what. And of course, we keep dreaming, night and day!

A westerly weather pattern is establishing itself and the short and medium-term outlook is warm and wet. We'll report on it as far as we can bear it. Then we broaden our horizons and take a look at a few well-known but distant ski destinations in the northern hemisphere and the state of the cryosphere.

In unison with the sensitive PowderAlert, the VdW also warns of the approaching "mid-season blues". We are countering this with everything YouTube has to offer and hope for a mild course and a speedy improvement.

Their names are Nikolai, Jacob, Antti and also Trygg and Hedvig and they produce ski VLOGs. You can't get past them. And rightly so, because they have the best English "Lordy-Dordy!", the best safety management (Extended Column Test) and run everything on green electricity. They wouldn't need to be skiing, but even that they usually do pretty well. But of course, there are a few Alpine one-offs that stand up to their dominance.

After the recent snowfall, the conditions for freeriding and especially ski touring are perfect across the Alps. It's chilly, at least north of the Alps, and half of Germany is also enjoying classic winter weather with frost and a hint of snow. It's like imperial weather!
