Simon from the Innsbruck-based ski manufacturer SPURart is working on the production of a recyclable ski as part of an innovation and research project. In an interview, he told us about the background, challenges and successes of this ambitious project. Following the interview, we were able to test the factory and get a first impression. Winter sports are running out of time, but the ski industry is not running out of ideas. Right after ProWinter in Bolzano, the Ski Industry Climate Summit 2026 brought brands, researchers, recyclers and NGOs to the same table to discuss what real climate action looks like beyond glossy sustainability claims. From modular skis designed to be taken apart, to recycled high-performance materials, one message stood out: the biggest lever might be the least glamorous—making skis last longer, proving it with data, and building the systems that keep products in use instead of in storage.

The first generation of the Shift revolutionized touring. With the Shift² 16 MN, Atomic now promises the ultimate upgrade: revised weak points, more metal and a completely new heel construction should make the binding stronger and enable a Z-value of up to 16. The Maverick Cti 96 is a classic all-mountain model, i.e. a ski for as many conditions as possible. With a center width of 96 mm, it is one of the narrower models in the Maverick series and is therefore more suitable for variable conditions than for the deepest powder snow. We tested how it performs in practice for you this season.

From January 11 to 13, the Bolzano trade fair opened its doors for the 25th edition of Prowinter, the trade fair for outdoor and winter sports. With 230 exhibitors and around 400 brands, around 30 percent of which came from abroad, the event once again demonstrated just how international the industry has become. For the first time, exhibitors presented the latest products and trends for the 2026/27 winter season in two halls of the trade fair. We were on site and looked around for exciting innovations and current trends.
