PowderGuide
The legendary PowderGuide snow depth prediction game will be held four times this winter at the Freeride Testival stops - and each time you can win great prizes. PowderGuide will be present at all stops to hand out the prizes directly. At the second stop in Silvretta Montafon from February 7 to 8, 2026, you can take home unique prizes from Atomic, Tecnica, Kästle and Phantom Glide worth over 2,000 euros and invaluable sentimental value!

PowderGuide on site at the Freeride Testivals

PowderGuide will be on site at the four stops of the Freeride Testivals this winter together with our cooperation partner Penguin with a stand, which has been aptly named The Powder Collective. The first stop took place on the last weekend in January in Hochfügen. Now it continues this weekend in Silvretta Montafon. The stand is the central hub for the community and offers much more than just an exchange of information and a betting game. It is also the meeting point for the Penguin Guide courses. You can also find more information here.

PowderGuide.com is also a weather partner of the Freeride Testivals and without giving away a big secret: the snow conditions are not overly good, but definitely usable for off-piste adventures - more on this in our betting game question.

Unfortunately, there is still not much fresh snow forecast for the Montafon - at least there is supposed to be some snow today, Friday, but unfortunately only very little fresh snow. It will clear up at some point on Saturday and up to four hours of sunshine are forecast! On Sunday it's even supposed to be 6 hours, but they'll have to fight with the few 19% cloud cover to give you almost a bluedird day with very good visibility and the new test skis!

The rest of the outlook is still crystal ball reading, but our WeatherBlog 14 2025/26 from the day before yesterday and also the oracle in the last PowderAlert have already indicated that something could change to break up the favorable southern Alps situation!

Silvretta Montafon snow depth prediction game

The PowderGuide snow depth prediction game is usually announced with every PowderAlert: Everyone bets on the amount of new snow that will fall at a weather station by the end of the alert. Since this winter, the prediction game has been played in a slightly modified version at various events where PowderGuide is on site. At the FreerideFilmFestival in Innsbruck at the beginning of November 2025 and at the first festival stop in Hochfügen at the end of January, betting was already intense. The prediction game for the second stop of the Freeride Testival 2026 is now set to take place this weekend.

As Mrs. Holle is once again not giving us any fresh snow during the Testival, Ullr is only traveling in the south and the prediction game question was a little "open" last time, our prediction game master Anselm has come up with something a little more solid this time.

In our weather maps, we not only have forecasts of various parameters, but also very good data on the current snow conditions and snow depth, which are provided to us by our partner ExoLabs. These maps are based on a combination of satellite and measuring station data and the ICON weather model from the DWD.

In the Alps, these snow depth maps achieve a resolution of 20 x 20 m, worldwide still a respectable 300 x 300 m. The data from ExoLabs are the most accurate snow depth maps available on the market. Of course, they also contain deviations from the real snow situation, especially where it is difficult to analyze due to orography and e.g. vegetation (forest!), but they are very valuable for a reasonable preparation for the next ski tour and for the betting game anyway.

This is what you need to guess

So this time it's not about a forecast, but about the current snow conditions. The prediction game question for the stop in Silvretta Montafon is:

What is the current average snow depth [cm without decimal places] in the Silvretta Montafon ski area?

The guess is based on the ExoLabs snow depth map from February 4, 2026 within the red polygon (see image above). The polygon roughly covers the higher elevations and is the area of the ski area defined by us.

You can also enter without being present at the Testival, but of course this increases your chances of holding the prize in your hands soon!

Reminder: This is an estimation game, i.e. you can do the math yourself, but it's more fun and time on the skis to estimate. And in addition, the automatic evaluation of the prediction game master still applies. As always, there is no legal recourse.

You can find out how you can take part below - now let's move on to more important things...

What you can win

The first prize for the best tip is - hold on tight! - a pair of the unique Grottoflage Atomic x Arc'teryx skis, which were only produced and sold in limited numbers, from the two PowderGuide partners! At the beginning of the winter, PowderGuide.com already gave away a complete Grottoflage setup.

Now there is another exclusive opportunity to get your hands on a pair of these coveted skis worth 900 euros. The winner can look forward to an Atomic MAVEN 103 Cti Arc'teryx in 170 cm or an Atomic MAVERICK 105 Cti Arc'teryx in 185 cm.

We would like to point out that both the MAVERICK and the MAVEN performed really well in the PG gear reviews. Please note: Only these lengths are available and the skis will be sent out after the Testival. No exchange possible!

The second prize this time is a product that doesn't even exist yet! You have the unique opportunity to win a Tecnica Zero G DECOIY from next season! Pictures of the ski boot have only been circulating on the Internet for a few weeks - the color in the picture on the right does not match the winning product!

And not much has been written about it yet, but one thing is already certain: the successor to the Tecnica Cochise raises the bar for downhill-oriented ski boots once again, although the previous product has been completely convincing since its launch - also in our gear reviews(2012, 2017).

However, the prize, which is expected to be worth 700 euros, has two catches: 1. there is 'only' the women's version in size 24.5 Mondopoint to be won (IMPORTANT: no other sizes and no exchanges possible!) and 2. we would like a short-term gear review to be published on PowderGuide.com! So please get lots of tippers with small feet to take part! The ski boot will be sent out after the Testival.

The third prize will be provided by Kästle. This is the high-quality Kästle MOUNTAINEER TRI ski touring pole, which will accompany you on your next ambitious tour. You won not just one, not two, not even three, but four poles - in other words, two pairs of poles! So that you can also equip your touring partner and enjoy a total value of 320 euros.

Fourth place simply wins more time for skiing or snowboarding or as quoted in our Gear of the Week | PHANTOM Glide "...my free time is more important to me... and I hate waxing my boards."! Enjoy a PHANTOM Glide At home kit worth 200,- Euro and spend more time on your skis than in the ski workshop.

How you can take part

Leave your tip for the above prediction question as a comment under this article by Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 12 noon CET . The time of the comment counts. QR codes linking directly to the article will be available at the Powder Collective stand at the Testival.

The winners will be announced on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 2:30 pm at the Powder Collective stand. Some prizes can be taken away directly, others will be sent out afterwards.

If there is a tie for one of the places, the winner will be decided by lot. As always, legal recourse is excluded.

Have fun and good luck with your predictions!
