PowderAlert Episode I - The awakening of winter
Lars Oelmann • 11/19/2015The time has finally come! The saga continues. I hope George Lucas forgives me for my entry and doesn't sue me. And no, I can't tell you if you can see Luke Skywalker's hand reaching for R2D2 in the trailer for "Star Wars - The Force Awakens", but I can tell you where it's snowing. That's what I'm here for and what we've all been waiting for. -

PowderAlert No. 18 2015 | Dolce Vita in the South
Lars Oelmann • 03/14/2015And once again, the pattern of winter can be seen in the maps: because it was mostly only really colorful in the Southern Alps. And here only from the Maritime Alps to Monte Rosa in the west of Italy. Apparently, Ullr has taken a liking to the Signorinas del Neve and always wants to go back. And for all lovers of the southern lifestyle between espresso and deep powder, there's yet another reason to go there, because it's thumping: And once again in the magical meter range! This time, snow should fall from the Maritime Alps to the Dolomites, but the jackpot, as so often this year, is to be found in Piedmont. -

PowderAlert No. 17 2015 | West jam ahead!
Lars Oelmann • 02/28/2015Ahoy you powder pirates. Ullr has promised loot and now the dump is appearing in the telescopes. After the rain is before the snow. It has already started to snow, or rather to rain below 1600 to 2000 m, and will continue to snow until Tuesday night or early Tuesday morning, with the snow line dropping and it will also snow again at usable altitudes. There will be a westerly flow across the entire northern slope of the Alps, but the largest amounts will come from the Lower Valais to the French Hautes Alpes. -

PowderAlert No. 16 2015 | Ullr's Restaurant
Lars Oelmann • 02/22/2015Chef Ullr has realized that powder-hungry people in the northwest of the Alps have only been served lousy food for a while now and is trying to change that: by preparing a delicious northwest current for you and sprucing up the run-down northern Alps, just like his colleagues on TV do with the restaurants. But first there's something quick for in between, a powder snack so to speak. -

PowderAlert No. 15 2015 | Südstau-Bundesliga
Lars Oelmann • 02/20/2015I'd like to welcome everyone to the 5th matchday of the Südstaubundesliga and hope you're looking forward to exciting matches with the Saturday powder as much as I am. Because just in time for the weekend, as with the Bundesliga, the Südstau is starting again and alarming amounts are coming from southwestern Piedmont via Monte Rosa and Ticino to Adamello and the French southwest. This time the models don't show anything further east and there are probably no positive surprises in terms of the track (after the poor Dolomites were very disappointed last week), because it's the same areas as always in the south that are getting snow this winter. -

PowderAlert No. 14 2015 | Südstau Alaaf!
Lars Oelmann • 02/12/2015The last alarm for a while, Ullr thinks, and sends us the next pack of Pow in the Alps, just in time for the carnival vacations. Ullr seems to have a soft spot for carnival fans and sends snow to the south and southwest. And in all likelihood, there will be a lot of it by Tuesday. This alert is only valid until Sunday, but I'll try to give you an idea of the total amounts. -

PowderAlert No. 13 2015
Lars Oelmann • 02/07/2015It has already started today, the northern congestion. Unfortunately for everyone west of the Kitzbühel Alps, there won't be much of it until Tuesday. All of Ullr's disciples who looked enviously to the west from the Salzkammergut and further east last week can now rejoice: because here there is northern congestion with amounts worthy of northern congestion. Nothing is coming in the south and west. -

PowderAlert No. 12 2015 | The Exotic Dump
Lars Oelmann • 02/03/2015Now that the Northern Alps and the Pyrenees have been raised from two below-average stars to four-star report level in 7 days, our favorite Nordic god is taking on the south of the Alps - and not the classic south of the last Southern Alps, but the more exotic spots that haven't done so well so far. -

PowderAlert No. 11 2015 | The Lord of the Powder - Part One: Ullr's Companions
Lars Oelmann • 01/27/2015Well, it won't be quite that extreme, but Ullr is finally flexing its muscles in the north this winter and is guaranteed to lure most freeriders to the Alps. This alert is valid until Saturday and then theoretically part two ("The two dumps") should follow from Saturday to Monday, depending on marginal lows, for which it is not yet clear whether they will come at all. -

PowderAlert No. 10 2015 | Before the big dump
Lars Oelmann • 01/25/2015First of all: Ullr's demonstration of power and the model snow apocalypse from a few days ago will probably not happen at the end of this week, so you can use your bunkers as party cellars again, mothball the shotguns and turn your Madmax cars with armor back into the KIA combos they once were. -

PowderAlert No. 9 2015 | Second helpings in the south
Lars Oelmann • 01/20/2015True to the motto "when it's on, it's on", Ullr is reflecting on its performance last week and sending supplies south just in time for the weekend. The whole thing starts today and will be finished on Friday morning. It won't be a proper dump but a fun replenishment on the soft base. -

PowderAlert No. 8 2015 | Snow for everyone!
Lars Oelmann • 01/14/2015After the winter in the north hasn't really worked out recently and most of the old year has melted away, Ullr is returning to its old virtues and remembering the base that it had already distributed in the south above 2000 m in November. So a small südstau is on the cards. But the north, from France to the Arlberg, should also be affected by the passage of the small low, albeit with small amounts of fresh snow.
