03/31/2026 • Florian Kreß (ÖAV)What happens when you lose your car from one day to the next and turn it into a spontaneous experiment: a reflection on the inner conflict between freedom, time efficiency, convenience and environmental protection as well as the discovery of new paths. -

03/05/2026 • Niko BrandtLet's go. Malte and Niko set off from Innsbruck towards the Caucasus. By what means? By public transport! 10/17/2025 • Claus LochbihlerIn three weeks by train from Tarvisio in Italy to Turkey - and in between ski tours in the High Tatras, Bulgaria, the Romanian Carpathians and on Turkish volcanic mountains. This is the subject of the film "Going East" by and with Max Kroneck, Loïc Isliker (director), Silvia Moser and Joi Hoffmann. In the interview, Max Kroneck explains why he originally wanted to go to Corsica, how he uses the railway as a mountain guide and why the bicycle is ultimately the freest means of transport. -

Crossing the Alps Part 3 | Behind the Adventure
04/25/2025 • Linus Langenbacher & Hugo StephenThis trip wasn’t just a point-to-point traverse; it was a way of living in the mountains for two months. Here's a glimpse behind the scenes—into our outdoor philosophy, the values we aimed to follow and share through our story, the logistics behind it all, our true highlight, and how it felt to slot back into our “normal” lives afterward. -

Snow of tomorrow | Ski crossings with public transport
12/02/2024 • Florian Kreß (ÖAV)Heavy equipment, waiting times at cold railway stations, high planning costs... there are plenty of reasons (or excuses?) not to travel by public transport, especially on ski tours. A reflection on my efforts to leave the car at home more often and to outwit my own comfort. -

Snow of tomorrow | Public transport skitour crossing in a self-experiment
01/22/2024 • Irene Welebil (ÖAV)I am passionate about skitour crossings. Stubai Alps, Zillertal Alps, Rätikon, Verwall, Silvretta, Hohe Tauern, Glarus, Uri, Bernese Alps. There are many skitour crossings, some of which I have already completed, some of which are still in my head. The best thing about them is that they are perfect for travelling by public transport and are therefore climate-friendly, as the start and end points are rarely the same. When travelling through valleys, things often turn out differently than planned and you may end up in a different valley than you originally thought. If you are travelling by public transport, there is no car waiting to take you home and the end point of the tour can be changed individually. -

BookReview | Of course with public transport! The best ski tours, ski trips & ski safaris from Munich
03/30/2023 • Patrick Wehowsky
The Munich night club institution 'Harry Klein' and a book presentation on ski touring using public transport. Two things that don't seem to go together at first glance, but on closer inspection harmonise perfectly and complement each other. The Harry Klein was certainly packed and gave the impression that the authors had struck a chord with the times. -

03/19/2021 • Sebastian MüllerThe omniscient algorithm also keeps offering me Jan Böhmermann. In his latest piece of satirical investigative journalism, he exposes the ignorance and corruption of the Tyrolean cable car industry, elegantly drawing analogies of failure in the event of a disaster, from the gondola fire in Kaprun to the Corona Cluster (I & II) in Ischgl. -

Beautiful tour from the Gailtal valley up to the border between Austria and Italy. As described in yesterday's Snow of Tomorrow, the starting point is also very easy to reach by public transport.
