From Hospental, we head over the pass road and through the Guspistal valley to one of the most beautiful splitboard adventures of the spring.   Before every tour of the splitboard group of my DAV section, we check whether all participants have crampons with them - the right ones for their own bindings. This is not so trivial for some and requires support here and there. In this article, I would like to briefly explain why crampons are not a nice-to-have for us splitboarders, but an absolute must-have. You will also get a comprehensive overview of the current splitboard bindings and their corresponding crampons.

  Dear Splitties, some mountains challenge, others reward. A bit pathetic, but La Rossa did both. I was traveling with my longtime touring partner and what was planned as a classic splitboard tour turned into an intense adventure in Alaskan scenery and solitude; and a great splitboarding terrain.

  Splittie of the Week is entering the season finale, but the current weather is driving the beads of rain onto the forehead of the author, who is mainly active in the Black Forest. The lexical re-creation of the oracle doesn't make the situation any better, but makes our reality all the more present. Thanks for that ;-)

  First aid: Anyone setting off on a ski tour, freeriding or splitboarding should at least carry a first aid kit for themselves and their group. Clear so far. Technical first aid for splitboarders: But I also always have a second kit with me. And this kit is not used for a bloody thumb, but for a loose screw. And yes, this can make or break a tour. And solve serious problems.

  Hard, harder, Hardboot. Is that possible off the rack? In the Splittie of the Week "Softboots for splitboarding", Till explains that the change from a conventional softboot to a special splitboard softboot is ultimately a way to a much stiffer snowboard boot. He writes that this change has taken his splitboarding to a new level. Features such as the Vibram sole, crampon mount and walk mode are side effects that every touring ski boot already have on their own. So why not go all the way?

  January 2025, the year starts with beautiful snow, lots of sunshine, sometimes heavy snowfall and some great tours with our speedy splitboards. Splitboarding has been around for a long time now. But if you want to go on a tour with a splitboard, you first need to clarify a few things. How does it even work? Which splitboard is right for me? Which boots do I actually need? Do I really need poles? Where can I go splitboarding? Which terrain is suitable? What tricks and tips are there? Who can I ask? Well, us! From now on we'll be writing smaller and easily accessible articles from the life of a splitboarder every other week. We'll try not to get too bogged down in nerdy details. On the one hand, these articles can be helpful to answer the questions mentioned above, but on the other hand, we would also like to encourage experienced splitboarders to post their opinions and join in the discussion.
